The Air Max 95 is one of Nike's most iconic sneaker designs, and its influence on sneaker culture cannot be overstated. Released in 1995, the shoe's distinct layered upper was inspired by the human body, with the spine-like design and visible Air units mimicking the human anatomy.

Interestingly, the Air Max 95 also made headlines in the past, which poses the question, is all press good press?

For over three decades, from 1984 to 2017, the BBC's "Crimewatch" had a significant impact on British television viewers, urging them to provide helpful information to solve unsolved cases. This monthly TV program presented high-quality CCTV footage and reenactments of crimes, featuring real actors that created intense drama. The show often left viewers, including adults and children, feeling uneasy and questioning how to avoid nightmares and what would they do if they spotted any of the criminals featured? As a result, walking down a dark hallway to bed was like being in a haunted house. "Can I have my night light tonight?"

For criminals, it turns out they do have a favourite shoe, the Air Max 95. Due to its recurring appearance as a footprint left at the scene of crimes the shoe became associated with criminal activity. The distinctive tread pattern of the shoe made it easy for investigators to identify and link to suspects, and as a result, the Air Max 95 gained a reputation among law enforcement as a preferred choice of footwear for criminals. Interestingly, this notoriety did little to diminish the shoe's popularity and might have even helped it.

As a nod to its association with criminal activity, the Air Max 95 stamp says "The Criminal's Choice" with a height measurement backdrop, resembling a police booking photograph.
